OVER 50S - CAN DO CIRCUS

Where ageing is celebrated and perceptions of what older people can and can’t do are challenged

ARE YOU OVER 50? ALWAYS FANCIED LEARNING CIRCUS?

Generation Circus is offering FREE aerial circus training for anyone over 50...for a whole year - ending in a show!

(Funded by The National Lottery / Community Fund)

What will I learn?

Aerial circus (trapeze, rope, silks)

Ground-based circus (like hula hoop and juggling)

Circus Theatre (performance skills, creating characters, working to music)

What are the benefits?
Circus is a wonderful community where everyone works towards a common goal - a positive, non-competitive and social environment where mistakes are expected to be made.
Training supports left brain/right brain integration, increases visual perceptual abilities, reaction times, rhythm, concentration, memory recall, coordination and motor skills!

It’s great for patience, confidence, social skills, cooperation and solidarity, problem-solving, well-being and happiness, self-esteem, leadership, teamwork, empathy and focus.

As well as being great for your emotional and mental health, practising aerial circus improves:

  • Balance

  • Coordination

  • Flexibility

  • Stamina

  • Fitness and cardiovascular

  • Spatial awareness

  • Strength

  • Reflexes

  • Agility

I’m much older than 50 / have health issues / am unfit - will I be able to do it?

We think everyone can do circus!
If you have health or access needs, we will work with you on ideas and expectations so that everyone can do something fantastic, and the project is truly collaborative.

When adaptations or variations are needed, we think they lead to exciting new possibilities, and open up new ways of working that everybody (including trainers) can learn from.

We don’t know yet what each individual will be able to do, but we are excited to find ways of working together!

We believe there is no such thing as being too old, too unfit, too stiff or too weak to do circus!

When and where is it?

Ware Drill Hall, Amwell End, Ware SG12 9HP

Every Sunday 3:00pm - 4:15pm

Starting on Sunday 21 April 2024

I want to do it - how do I sign up?

There are currently no spaces left! Sorry.!

But the project is running for a whole year, so it is likely you will get a place at some point.

Just click here to go on our waiting list.

We will contact you as soon as a place becomes available.
